New paper: Breastfeeding & IQ

Our latest study on breastfeeding and IQ just came out in PLoS One: get it here.

In data from more than 11,000 children from the UK born between 1994 and 1996, we found no meaningful association between breastfeeding and IQ at age 2. Also, breastfeeding was not related to IQ gains that occured between age 2 and age 16.

While it’s long been suspected that the effects of breastfeeding on cognitive development are trivial, our study surprised many people and got a lot of attention, also here and here.
